Where It Sits
At 40 mm, 44 mm, 20 mm it fits one position only; the next size up carries a different number. Play at the bushing shows up as a knock over sharp bumps. Bushings carry the side load in a damper or fork and keep the moving parts concentric. Inner and outer diameter both matter; a bushing that is a little loose does more damage than none at all.
Why the Original
The alternative to a service part is usually a new damper, which is why this catalogue exists. Parts remain available years after a unit leaves the current price list, which is unusual in this trade. The exploded drawing for your unit names the number; if you do not have it, we do. Where a number has been superseded, Öhlins states the replacement — we pass that on.
Getting the Number Right
Order under 05371-01. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. Check inner diameter 40 mm, outer diameter 44 mm, length 20 mm against what you have removed; a close size is not the same part. Öhlins uses low-friction coated bushings for a smooth breakaway. Guide bushings set the internal alignment of a cartridge.
Fitting and Setup Service
A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.
