DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Panigale V4 R, Ducati's homologation special built from 2019 to 2020, is the bike Melotti Racing's R&D department had in mind when it developed the yoke later raced by the Barni team, with the tester known as Petrux #9, in World Superbike across the 2023 and 2024 seasons. The version sold here as PS.DU.318 brings that same work to a club-level V4 R, aiming specifically at the moment under hard braking when chattering through the front end becomes most noticeable, right as the rider releases the brake and tips the bike into a corner.
Key Features
- Top yoke for the Ducati Panigale V4 R, 2019 to 2020
- Melotti Racing part PS.DU.318, available in black or natural finish
- Aluminium alloy with high magnesium content, CNC and 3D machined from billet
- Adaptive geometry structure, extremely low weight
- Vernier scale for clip-on position adjustment
- "V4 SUPERBIKE" engraving and Melotti Racing R&D logo
- Titanium PRO-BOLT fasteners with truncated-cone heads
- Pairs with the standard lower steering plate
Construction and Material Quality
The PS.DU.318 is machined from a high-magnesium aluminium alloy taken from billet, using CNC machines alongside 3D machining technology, and Melotti describes the finished plate as an adaptive-geometry structure, combining very low weight with the flexibility needed to absorb lateral load and the rigidity needed to resist the stress of hard braking at the same time. Titanium PRO-BOLT fasteners with truncated-cone heads complete the fitment, and the plate carries the "V4 SUPERBIKE" engraving and Melotti Racing R&D logo used on the parts it supplies to its World Superbike partners.
Taming Chatter Under Braking
Melotti's own account of this yoke's development points directly at the V4 R and its racing career, built with the Barni team and tested by the rider known as Petrux #9 through the 2023 and 2024 World Superbike seasons before filtering down to various teams from the world championship to the British Superbike grid. The stated benefit is a clear reduction in front-end chattering and better feel in the last phase of a hard stop, exactly where a homologation special like the Panigale V4 R is pushed closest to its limits on a club circuit. The plate is designed to work with the standard lower steering unit already fitted to the bike.
Fitment and Compatibility
Melotti's price list gives the PS.DU.318 for the V4, V4 S and V4 R across 2018 to 2020, and our listing for the V4 R uses the narrower 2019 to 2020 range that matches when the R itself went on sale. Melotti's website states different end years for the R than the price list; we have followed the price list here. The yoke is built to pair with the factory lower steering plate.
Road Approval
No ABE, no German parts certificate and no EC type-approval cover this yoke, from Melotti or from us. It is made for racing and other closed-circuit use; riding a V4 R fitted with it on German public roads without a documented entry is not permitted, and race organisers decide their own technical rules for any meeting.
Scope of Delivery
Delivery is the complete PS.DU.318 top yoke with its titanium PRO-BOLT fasteners, in the finish ordered. The standard lower steering plate is not included and stays with the bike.
