Melotti Racing built its RS 660 top yoke around the geometry it first developed as a "race only" item for the Aprilia RSV4, and it is the same philosophy applied to a smaller twin: a plate stiff enough to hold under hard braking, yet flexible enough at turn-in to let the front tyre feel the way the asphalt actually sits beneath it. On the RS 660, that trade-off matters most exactly where a trackday is won or lost, in the half-second between tipping the bike into a corner and knowing whether the front end will hold its line.

Construction and Material Quality
The yoke is machined from aluminium alloy on CNC centres using 3D milling, which lets Melotti cut the seagull-wing profile that Aprilia itself uses on the RSV4 and RS 660 without flattening it into a cheaper, simpler shape. That profile is reworked here to allow more travel on the fork tube than the standard yoke permits, which in turn lets a rider or mechanic drop the front end further when the bike's set-up calls for it. A vernier scale is cut into the yoke so the clip-on opening angle can be read and reset precisely, and dedicated slots let the clip-ons be locked directly into the yoke itself, a change that had only existed on pure racing machines before Melotti brought it to a road-based bike like the RS 660. The yoke is finished with black anodising and comes with stainless steel screws with countersunk conical heads, and a natural anodised finish is also available.
Corner Entry and Front-End Feel
Riders who take an RS 660 to a trackday usually notice the front end first: how much warning it gives before it lets go, and how precisely it can be placed on the way into a corner. The flexibility built into this yoke's reworked profile is there to let the fork legs move independently by a small amount under load, so the tyre contact patch follows small changes in the track surface instead of the chassis fighting them. Under braking, that same structure firms up, which is why Melotti kept rigidity as the other half of the design brief rather than chasing flex on its own. The practical result on a trackday RS 660 is a front end that loads up predictably on the way into a corner and holds its composure once the brakes are released, which is the behaviour a rider actually feels lap after lap rather than reads on a spec sheet.
Fitment and Compatibility
Melotti lists the PS.AP.721 top yoke for the Aprilia RS 660, built since 2021. It is not offered for the related RS 457 in Melotti's documentation, so riders running the smaller bike should not assume the yoke interchanges between the two models. On an RS 660 already fitted with Melotti's steering limiter (LS.AP.7211), steering damper bracket (SA.AP.7212), racing clip-ons (SM.AP.721) or dashboard protection (DC.AP.7211), the yoke is designed to work alongside all four without further modification.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE, no component certificate and no EC type approval for this top yoke. Melotti builds it for racing and closed-circuit use only; riding an RS 660 fitted with it on public roads in Germany is not permitted without a separate entry, and any race meeting applies its own organiser's rules on top of this.
