DescriptionThe whole story▼
Bleeding a brake system properly, rather than rushing it, usually decides how consistent the lever feels lap after lap, and Melotti's RBS kit for the standard RSV4 1100, built since 2021, adds a second bleed point purely to make that job faster between sessions. The rest of the kit, braided steel hoses, stainless fittings and an optional pressure sensor, follows the same specification Melotti builds for every RSV4 generation back to the RSV4 RR.
Key Features
- RBS brake line kit for the Aprilia RSV4 1100, Melotti part RBS.AP.509
- Braided steel hoses with a PTFE inner lining
- Stainless steel fittings throughout
- Direct pressure sensor mounting with no extra hose needed
- Additional bleed point for faster bleeding
- Compact fit, no modification to the bike required
- Usable in Stock racing classes, FIM compliant
- Choice of blind hole, UNF 16-20 or M10x1 sensor fitting
Construction and Material Quality
Steel-braided hoses with a PTFE liner carry the brake fluid in this kit, finished at each end with stainless steel fittings. The pressure sensor mounting sits directly in the line rather than needing a branch hose of its own, available as a blind hole, a UNF 16-20 fitting or an M10x1 thread depending on what sensor, if any, the rider plans to run. A second bleed point is built into the kit specifically to speed up bleeding, and the whole system is sized to fit the RSV4 1100 without any modification to the bike.
A Faster Bleed Between Sessions
An RSV4 1100 owner who only gets a handful of trackdays a year still wants the brakes bled properly before each one, and a single bleed point can turn that into a slow, air-chasing job if the lever never quite firms up on the first attempt. The second bleed point in this kit exists to shorten exactly that task, letting a rider or a workshop clear the system faster between sessions without affecting how the brakes perform once bled. It is a small addition next to the braided hoses and stainless fittings, but it is the one most riders notice the first time they use it.
Fitment and Compatibility
One RBS kit covers the entire RSV4 line Melotti supports: the current RSV4 1100, its Factory sibling, and the earlier RSV4 RR and RSV4 RF. Nothing changes between them except the earliest 2009 to 2014 bikes, which need the lower yoke's M6 hole opened out to M8 before this kit will fit. Specify a blind hole, a UNF 16-20 fitting or an M10x1 thread for the pressure sensor when ordering. Melotti's GP or Road top yoke (PS.AP.509P, PS.AP.509S) and dashboard protection (DC.AP.5171) all fit the 1100 alongside it.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE, no component certificate and no EC type approval for this brake line kit. Melotti builds it for racing and closed-circuit use only; riding an RSV4 1100 fitted with it, and with its ABS removed, on public roads in Germany is not permitted without a separate entry, and any race meeting applies its own organiser's rules on top of this.
