DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Panigale V2 955, Ducati's twin-cylinder entry into the Panigale range built since 2020, shares its 53mm fork tubes with the bigger V4 models, which is why Melotti lists one clip-on part number, the SM.DU.318, across both families rather than building a separate conversion for the smaller twin.
Key Features
- Racing clip-ons for the Ducati Panigale V2 955, Melotti part SM.DU.318
- Sized for 53mm fork tubes, shared across the V4, V2 and 1098 Panigale families
- Available in black or natural anodised finish
- Direct replacement for the standard Panigale V2 955 handlebars
- Same part is also listed for the Panigale V4, Panigale V4 S and Panigale V4 R
- No separate construction description published by Melotti for this item
Construction and Material Quality
Melotti's catalogue entry for this clip-on states the fork diameter, 53mm, and the two anodised finishes it comes in, and nothing further; there is no separate write-up of the stub length, the clamp geometry or the material grade for this particular item, and rather than invent any of that detail, we simply say so. The function is clear regardless: on the Panigale V2 955, it replaces the standard handlebar with a two-piece clip-on bolted to the fork legs, lowering and advancing the rider's grip in the same way it does on every other bike in this 53mm family. If a dimension or a material needs confirming before you order, ask us and we will check directly with Melotti.
A Smaller Twin, the Same Conversion
A lot of riders choose the V2 955 specifically because it is lighter and easier to manage than the full V4 range, often as a first proper superbike or a step into club racing, and the handlebar conversion is usually one of the first changes once that bike starts doing laps rather than road miles. Because the clip-on shares its part number with the bigger Panigales, an owner moving up from the V2 955 to a V4 later does not have to relearn a different clip-on fitment, since the fork diameter and the mounting are already identical.
Fitment and Compatibility
Introduced in 2020 as the smaller twin in the Panigale range, the V2 955 takes the same 53mm clip-on Melotti builds for the V4, the V4 S and the V4 R, and the same clamp diameter also covers several Öhlins-fork 1199 and 1299 variants elsewhere in our shop. Melotti's note additionally covers the earlier Ducati 1098, 1198 and 848, not stocked separately here. If you are fitting this to a different Panigale generation and are not sure the clamp matches, ask us before ordering. A V2 955 also fitted with Melotti's fast-action front wheel axle kit (KPRAR.DU), fork potentiometer support kit (KSEF.DU), speed sensor support (SSRFA.DU) or quick-change front fender support kit (KSPM.DU2) can run any of them alongside this clip-on.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE, no component certificate and no EC type approval for this clip-on kit. Melotti builds it for racing and closed-circuit use only; riding a Panigale V2 955 fitted with it on public roads in Germany is not permitted without a separate entry, and any race meeting applies its own organiser's rules on top of this.
