DescriptionThe whole story▼
An RSV4 RR that has been through a crash, or one simply being rebuilt over the winter after a hard season of trackdays, is often stripped down to the steering head anyway, which makes it the obvious moment to fit a top yoke built specifically for racing rather than refit the original. Melotti's GP top yoke for the RSV4 RR, built between 2015 and 2020, drops around 100 grams from the standard plate, nearly 200 grams below the bike's original fitment, bringing the finished part down to a recorded weight of just 330 grams.
Key Features
- GP top yoke for the Aprilia RSV4 RR, 2015 to 2020, Melotti part PS.AP.515P
- Machined from aluminium alloy on CNC machines with 3D technology
- Reworked lower geometry saves around 100 grams over the standard yoke
- Nearly 200 grams lighter than the bike's original fitment
- Finished weight of 330 grams, a record for this application
- Vernier scale for setting the clip-on opening angle
- Keeps the original seagull-wing profile
- Black anodised finish, stainless countersunk screws included
Construction and Material Quality
Melotti machines the yoke from aluminium alloy on CNC centres using 3D milling, reaching a finished weight of 330 grams, which the company records as its lightest figure for this fitment: around 100 grams below its own standard yoke and nearly 200 grams under what the RSV4 RR originally left the factory with. The saving comes from a reworked lower geometry rather than thinning the metal evenly, so the original seagull-wing profile survives intact, along with a vernier scale cut into the clip-on brackets for a precise, repeatable opening angle. Stainless screws with countersunk conical heads are included, and the yoke is finished in black anodising.
A Winter Rebuild Done Properly
Once a season's worth of trackdays or a single hard crash has an RSV4 RR's front end apart over the winter, the steering head is exactly the part most owners never look at again until the next time something forces them to. Fitting the GP yoke while everything is already stripped avoids a second disassembly later, and because the part bolts to the standard lower yoke without needing any other change, a rebuild that was already planned simply gets a lighter, race-specification front end as part of the same job rather than a separate project of its own.
Fitment and Compatibility
This GP yoke was built for the RSV4 RR of 2015 to 2020 and fits the RSV4 RF from the same years without any change. Choosing it means leaving the Road top yoke, PS.AP.515S, off the bike, since the two are alternative plates for the same steering head; Melotti's dashboard protection (DC.AP.5171) and RBS brake system (RBS.AP.509) can still be fitted alongside whichever yoke is chosen.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE, no component certificate and no EC type approval for this yoke. Melotti builds it for racing and closed-circuit use only; riding an RSV4 RR fitted with it on public roads in Germany is not permitted without a separate entry, and any race meeting applies its own organiser's rules on top of this.
