DescriptionThe whole story▼
Stripping the AIS air injection system off a Yamaha YZF-R25, built between 2015 and 2020, leaves a hole in the cylinder head that has to be closed properly before the bike goes anywhere near a track. Melotti Racing's aluminium AIS Valve Cover does exactly that, and because the YZF-R25 shares its AIS layout with the Yamaha YZF-R3, the same part covers both without any change in design.
Key Features
- AIS valve cover for the Yamaha YZF-R25, 2015 to 2020
- Melotti part AIS.YA.1151, shared with the Yamaha YZF-R3
- Aluminium construction, built for AIS removal on track bikes
- Installs without taking out the reed valves, reusing their gasket
- Rubber plug supplied to close the air-box hole
- Black finish
Construction and Material Quality
The AIS.YA.1151 is machined in aluminium to seal the opening a YZF-R25 is left with once its AIS valve and lines come out for racing use. Melotti built the cover to go on without disturbing the reed valves underneath it, so the existing gasket already sealing them does double duty under the new cover rather than being replaced. The kit's rubber plug takes care of the matching hole in the air box, so the whole induction side stays properly sealed once the emissions hardware itself has gone.
Why the Install Takes Minutes, Not an Afternoon
A technician working through a YZF-R25 ahead of a race weekend tends to notice this cover for what it does not require rather than for what it does: no gasket kit to track down, no cylinder head machining, and no need to crack open the reed-valve housing just to fit a cover over a hole that is already there. That makes it one of the faster items on an engine prep list, usually done in the same sitting as the air-box work it is paired with, which is exactly why Melotti designed it to reuse hardware already on the bike rather than add a new sealing surface that would need its own gasket.
Fitment and Compatibility
Melotti lists the AIS.YA.1151 for the Yamaha YZF-R25 built between 2015 and 2020, matching our own listing, and the identical part is also catalogued for the Yamaha YZF-R3 of the same years. No other Yamaha model shares this part number in our range. It is a straightforward addition to an AIS-removal job alongside other Melotti parts for the same engine family.
Road Approval
No ABE exists for the AIS.YA.1151, and a YZF-R25 with its AIS system removed cannot be ridden on public roads in that configuration. We supply the cover for racetrack and closed-circuit use, with race organisers applying their own rules at a meeting.
