DescriptionThe whole story▼
The naked Street Triple 765 R uses the same engine and the same AIS secondary air injection layout as the RS, so once a 765 R's AIS system has been deleted for track use, it needs the identical fix at the valve covers. Melotti Racing's aluminium AIS valve cover set, part AIS.TR.2221, is built for exactly this: covers that fit a 765 R with AIS removed, able to go on without pulling the reed valves out of the engine first, reusing their original gasket rather than needing a replacement.
Key Features
- Aluminium AIS valve cover set for track-prepared Street Triple 765 R engines with AIS deleted
- Can be fitted without removing the reed valves, reusing their existing gasket
- Sold and priced as a pair
- Melotti part AIS.TR.2221, shared across the Street Triple 765 range
- Replaces the stock AIS-routed covers rather than modifying them
- Fits the Street Triple 765 R built from 2017 to 2025
Construction and Material Quality
Built in aluminium, this cover set is the direct counterpart to the stock covers once a 765 R's AIS system has been removed for track preparation, the same specification Melotti Racing lists for the RS variant since the two bikes share the engine. Fitting over the existing reed valve assembly rather than needing it out keeps the original reed valve gasket doing its job, saving a part and a step of resealing that joint on its own during the conversion.
A Pit-Box Fix for the Naked R's Induction
Teams running the 765 R on a track-only budget often strip the induction system down to essentials to simplify tuning and remove a possible vacuum leak path, and the AIS covers are one of the last small jobs left once the bigger engine work is done. Because this set bolts on without disturbing the reed valves, it is the kind of fix that can be finished in the pit box between sessions rather than needing a full engine strip on the bench.
Fitment and Compatibility
This cover set is listed for the naked 765 R from 2017 to 2025, with the identical pair sold separately for the 765 RS. It tends to be the final small part ordered once the rest of a track-only induction strip-down on the R is already finished.
Road Approval
No type approval or test certificate is on file for this cover set, and deleting the AIS system is a track-only engine change. Running a Street Triple 765 R set up this way on public roads in Germany without separate registration is not permitted, and at race meetings the organiser's rules apply.
