DescriptionThe whole story▼
The 1043 cc Z1000 shows everything, which also means everything is exposed. The STEKA207 weighs 486 g and spends most of that on a damped three-material stack rather than one solid block. Nothing on the Z1000 has to be cut or drilled; the standard points carry the kit.
Key Features
- Magnesium oscillation bush in the STEKA207 allows a controlled amount of movement
- Pins and spacers for the Z1000 frame bosses are in the STEKA207 box
- No type-approval paperwork supplied with the STEKA207 — see the approval note below
- The STEKA207 adds 486 g to a Z1000 and changes nothing about how it steers
- Designed around the Z1000 specifically rather than adapted from another model
- Metric hardware throughout the STEKA207, so a Z1000 workshop needs nothing special
- Supplied complete with the hardware the Z1000 installation needs
Hard Is Not the Same as Protective
Hardness alone is not protection — it is only a decision about where the damage goes. LighTech splits the STEKA207 into a hard outer face and a soft inner element. What the TPE absorbs never reaches the Z1000 frame at all.
Construction
An aluminium ring carries the first contact when the Z1000 goes over. Magnesium carries the assembly on the Z1000 without adding mass where it hurts most. The nylon shell is the sacrificial surface: it scuffs first and costs least to renew.
Compatibility and Installation
The kit is sold for the Kawasaki Z1000 and uses that bike's own mounting points. Nothing on the Z1000 has to be cut; the kit bolts to what is there.
In the Workshop
The 486 g of the STEKA207 arrive as one boxed kit for the Z1000. Check the clearance to Z1000 bodywork once fitted — spacers are included precisely for that. LighTech lists the STEKA207 in Black alone for the Z1000.
Supplied As
LighTech supplies the STEKA207 as a pair with its mounting hardware for the Z1000. If the Z1000 needs a second kit later, the STEKA207 number is the only thing to quote.
Road Approval
No approval documentation is included with the STEKA207. For a Z1000 with a registration plate, the fitted position is worth clarifying in advance. We would rather you asked first than discovered it at the inspection.
