DescriptionThe whole story▼
A CBR 1000 RR spends its life between two extremes, and the paddock is where it falls over. LighTech's STEHO209 is built around that idea: aluminium ring, magnesium bush, TPE damper at 60 Shore. On a 999 cc CBR 1000 RR it is the cheapest insurance on the bike.
Key Features
- The rubber element in the STEHO209 returns to shape after deformation
- Aluminium upper ring for surface hardness where the CBR 1000 RR actually touches down
- The STEHO209 damper flattens the load curve instead of spiking it into the CBR 1000 RR frame
- Fitting the STEHO209 to a CBR 1000 RR is measured in minutes, not hours
- Supplied black on black; STEHO209 rings and dampers in other colours are separate items
- Built for the speeds where a CBR 1000 RR actually falls: paddock, garage, pit lane
- Three materials, three jobs across 554 g: hard outside, light in the middle, soft at the core
Materials and Construction
LighTech machines the upper ring of the STEHO209 from aluminium for exactly one property: hardness. Magnesium carries the assembly on the CBR 1000 RR without adding mass where it hurts most. What a rigid block sends into the CBR 1000 RR frame, the 60 Shore element absorbs instead.
Why a Damped Slider
The useful question is not how hard the STEHO209 is, but what the CBR 1000 RR frame sees afterwards. A damper at 60 Shore is firm enough to hold its shape and soft enough to flatten. What the TPE absorbs never reaches the CBR 1000 RR frame at all.
In the Workshop
Everything the CBR 1000 RR installation needs comes with the STEHO209. Offer the STEHO209 up before tightening anything; the CBR 1000 RR fairing line decides the final position. The STEHO209 comes Black and only Black on the CBR 1000 RR.
Fitment and Compatibility
Fitment is the Honda CBR 1000 RR, 2008 to 2019. It uses the mounting points the CBR 1000 RR already carries, so nothing is drilled or fabricated.
Supplied As
The STEHO209 is a two-slider kit; nothing further has to be ordered for the CBR 1000 RR. Spare elements for the STEHO209 are listed separately, which keeps a repair cheap on a CBR 1000 RR.
Road Approval
The STEHO209 arrives without approval paperwork, and we do not present it as approved. A protector fitted outside the outline of the CBR 1000 RR is something a German inspector may question. For a track-only CBR 1000 RR there is nothing to clarify.
