DescriptionThe whole story▼
Between Honda CB 650 R and a workshop appointment sits one damped component. The LighTech STEHO215 puts a 60 Shore TPE element between an aluminium ring and a magnesium base, 630 g for the pair. On the 649 cc CB 650 R the kit replaces factory hardware rather than adding to it.
Key Features
- TPE shock absorber at 60 Shore in the STEHO215 — firm under load, soft under impact
- Designed around the CB 650 R specifically rather than adapted from another model
- Anodised to LighTech's standard finish across the whole STEHO215
- The rubber element in the STEHO215 returns to shape after deformation
- Built for the speeds where a CB 650 R actually falls: paddock, garage, pit lane
- The STEHO215 damper flattens the load curve instead of spiking it into the CB 650 R frame
- Bolts to the standard CB 650 R fixing points — no drilling, no adapter plates
Construction
An aluminium ring carries the first contact when the CB 650 R goes over. Bush and base are magnesium — light where the STEHO215 hangs furthest from the frame. What a rigid block sends into the CB 650 R frame, the 60 Shore element absorbs instead.
Why a Damped Slider
Every protector transmits what it does not absorb, and the frame boss is where it lands. A damper at 60 Shore is firm enough to hold its shape and soft enough to flatten. What the TPE absorbs never reaches the CB 650 R frame at all.
Compatibility and Installation
The STEHO215 is catalogued by LighTech for the Honda CB 650 R and nothing else in this listing. Installation uses the factory fixings on the CB 650 R; the supplied hardware replaces them.
Installation
The STEHO215 goes onto the CB 650 R with the bike on a stand and nothing dismantled. Thread-locking compound is sensible on a CB 650 R that sees track use. No colour decision is needed: the STEHO215 for the CB 650 R exists in Black.
Supplied As
LighTech supplies the STEHO215 as a pair with its mounting hardware for the CB 650 R. A worn STEHO215 is renewed at the element, not at the kit.
Approval and Road Use
The STEHO215 arrives without approval paperwork, and we do not present it as approved. Whether the fitted position is acceptable on a road-registered CB 650 R is the inspector's call, not ours. Check with your inspection body if the CB 650 R sees public roads. For circuit use the point is moot.
