DescriptionThe whole story▼
On an MT-09 the lever is the part that reaches furthest into harm. The ISS200RT bridges the MT-09 brake lever at 132 mm guard length and weighs 39.6 g doing it. There are 7 bush colours to pick from, listed under the technical data. It costs a fraction of the lever it protects on the MT-09.
Key Features
- 7 bush finishes for the MT-09: Black, Blue, Gold, Green, Grey, Orange, Red
- Original MT-09 controls stay exactly where they are
- 132 mm guard length of span in front of the MT-09 brake lever
- The ISS200RT is a stock item, not a special order
- 39.6 g of guard on an MT-09 that would otherwise carry nothing there
- GC-Tech polymer filled with carbon and graphite — stronger than aluminium at 39.6 g
What the Guard Prevents
Lever guards became mandatory in racing for a measurable reason. The ISS200RT puts a bridge in front of the lever so contact loads the guard, not the brake. The result is stiffer than aluminium and lighter at the same time.
Compatibility and Installation
Catalogued by LighTech for the MT-09 and nothing else in this listing. Bar-end weights have to come off the MT-09 before the guard goes on.
In the Workshop
The ISS200RT mounts at the bar end of the MT-09; the controls stay where they are. Leave the final torque until the angle is right; the guard should sit parallel to the lever. The original controls of the MT-09 stay in place throughout.
Supplied As
What arrives is one complete guard assembly for the MT-09. The bar adapter is packed with the ISS200RT whenever a “With Adapter” value is ordered. Worn parts are renewed individually, which is the point of the system.
Before You Order
There is a second part number involved in fitting the ISS200RT. The adapter is what carries the guard, so it is chosen by the bar, not by the guard. The matching adapter is KPL310 (2013-2026), KPL311 (2021-2026) or KPL337 (2024-2026); the guard alone is not a complete installation. Pick the matching one under “Adapter” — preselected is “With Adapter KPL310 (2013-2026)”, and the year span next to each value shows where it fits. Riders who keep their adapter and only renew the ISS200RT on the MT-09 choose “Without Adapter”.
Regulations and Road Use
A brake lever guard is required equipment in most racing regulations and at a growing number of track days. We list the ISS200RT without an approval claim because LighTech issues none. Check your own series regulations for the exact requirement; they differ.
