DescriptionThe whole story▼
The left lever of a Z1000 leads whenever the bike goes over at rest. LighTech's LEVXF005K is the Model K (ALIEN) clutch lever — foldable, 260 g, with grip inserts in rubber, customisable through LighTech's colour range. On a 1043 cc machine like the Z1000 the weight saving at the bar is noticeable in the steering.
Key Features
- Reach adjustment the original Z1000 lever does not offer
- Model K (ALIEN): black rubber grip inserts as standard
- The inserts are available in other colours as separate LighTech items
- A stock LighTech item rather than a special order
- Machined from magnesium and aluminium, not cast
- LighTech levers are run by teams in MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3 and WSBK
Why This Lever
The original clutch lever of the Z1000 is heavier than it needs to be. The LEVXF005K is Model K (ALIEN), machined in magnesium and aluminium and hinged to fold. J, K and H differ in finish and geometry; the material is the same.
What Is in the Box
LighTech ships the LEVXF005K individually, not as a left-and-right pair. Grip inserts and spare pivots are listed under their own numbers.
Fitment
LighTech lists the LEVXF005K for the Kawasaki Z1000. The original Z1000 hardware carries it; keep the old lever as a spare.
In the Workshop
No fluid is lost fitting the LEVXF005K to a Z1000 — the circuit stays closed. Work the lever through its full travel before you trust it on the Z1000. No bleeding and no adjustment of the master cylinder is involved.
J, K and H
On the K the blade is not bare metal where it matters. The inserts are a wear part and are replaced on their own. LighTech's other models (the plain black J and the newer H geometry) differ in finish and shape, not in construction.
Approval and Road Use
LighTech's own documentation calls the range road-code compliant. No type-approval certificate accompanies the LEVXF005K, whatever the manufacturer states. If the Z1000 carries a plate, ask your inspection body before fitting — practice differs by region.
