DescriptionThe whole story▼
A GSX-R1000R covers distance, and reach adjustment stops being a detail after the third hour. The LEVS123J is Model J of LighTech's brake lever range, machined in magnesium and aluminium. The brake lever is adjustable from the left. LighTech lists it for the GSX-R1000R; it replaces the original lever directly.
Key Features
- The blade is the sacrificial part, not the master cylinder of the GSX-R1000R
- LighTech part number LEVS123J, listed for the Suzuki GSX-R1000R
- Replaces the factory lever directly on the GSX-R1000R
- No drilling, no cutting, nothing permanent on the GSX-R1000R
- Uses the original pivot and perch of the GSX-R1000R — no adapter
- LighTech levers are run by teams in MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3 and WSBK
Fitment
LighTech lists the LEVS123J for the Suzuki GSX-R1000R. The LEVS123J uses the original pivot bolt and the original perch of the GSX-R1000R.
The Case for Magnesium
The original lever on a GSX-R1000R is designed to a cost, not to a hand. LighTech machines the LEVS123J from magnesium and aluminium and hinges the blade so it folds under impact. Folding is not a convenience feature; it is why the lever survives.
Fitting
No fluid is lost fitting the LEVS123J to a GSX-R1000R — the circuit stays closed. Set the reach before the first ride, not at the first corner. The original lever goes back on the GSX-R1000R any time.
What You Get
LighTech ships the LEVS123J individually, not as a left-and-right pair. A matched pair on the GSX-R1000R means ordering both sides.
J, K and H
Nothing on the J blade catches the eye, which on a GSX-R1000R is sometimes the goal. No inserts means nothing to replace and nothing to lose on a wet GSX-R1000R. The other two models in the range — the K with its grip inserts and the H with its revised geometry — share the same material and the same folding mechanism.
Road Approval
According to LighTech, the range meets the requirements of the applicable road regulations. What LighTech declares and what a German inspector needs are not the same document. On a registered GSX-R1000R the inspector decides, not the manufacturer's leaflet.
