DescriptionThe whole story▼
Of all the controls on a Panigale 1299, the brake lever is the one worth upgrading first. LighTech builds the LEVD155J as Model J — foldable, lighter than the original, with a fully black finish throughout. It bolts to the Panigale 1299 with the original hardware — nothing else is needed.
Key Features
- 240 g — lighter than the original brake lever of the Panigale 1299
- Covers the Panigale 1299 across 4 model years (2015 to 2018)
- Replaces the factory lever directly on the Panigale 1299
- Folds away on contact, which is what keeps a Panigale 1299 rideable after a drop
- Developed for the braking loads a Panigale 1299 actually generates
- Uses the original pivot and perch of the Panigale 1299 — no adapter
The Case for Magnesium
A brake lever that does not fold is a brake lever that breaks. LighTech machines the LEVD155J from magnesium and aluminium and hinges the blade so it folds under impact. Made in Italy throughout, with the tricolour on the blade.
Fitment
This listing covers the Ducati Panigale 1299, 2015 to 2018. It replaces the original lever on the standard perch of the Panigale 1299 — no adapter and no modification.
Scope of Delivery
LighTech ships the LEVD155J individually, not as a left-and-right pair. Grip inserts and spare pivots are listed under their own numbers.
Installation
No fluid is lost fitting the LEVD155J to a Panigale 1299 — the circuit stays closed. Check that the blade folds freely by hand once the bolt is tight. Keep the factory lever — it is the roadside spare.
Choosing a Model
Model J exists for riders who want the lever to disappear into the bike. Black throughout, which also means the blade shows wear less than a two-tone lever. If this is not the one, the K with its grip inserts and the H with its revised geometry fit the Panigale 1299 identically.
Regulations
The manufacturer declares compliance with the highway code for this lever family. German registration documents are a separate matter, and the LEVD155J has none. Track and paddock use raise no question; a road-registered Panigale 1299 might.
