DescriptionThe whole story▼
A touring GSX-S1000 spends enough hours in the saddle to make a readable reservoir useful. The OBT005 is machined from solid, laser-engraved with the LighTech logo, and holds 30 cm³. It is among the least expensive visible changes you can make to a GSX-S1000.
Key Features
- It is the cheapest visible change on a GSX-S1000
- Nothing on the GSX-S1000 is drilled, cut or permanently altered
- Translucent plastic liner, so the fluid level on the GSX-S1000 stays readable
- LighTech part number OBT005, listed for the Suzuki GSX-S1000
- Replaces the original plastic reservoir of the GSX-S1000
- Universal by design: LighTech builds one reservoir, not one per Suzuki model
The Case for Billet
There is a reason race bikes carry visible reservoirs. LighTech machines the OBT005 shell from billet and lines it with translucent plastic, so 30 cm³ of fluid is readable without tools. The bracket is a separate LighTech article and is only made in black.
Maintenance
Fluid darkens as it absorbs water — on the GSX-S1000 that is now visible without tools. The OBT005 needs no maintenance of its own beyond that.
Fitment and Compatibility
The listing is for the GSX-S1000 and the years 2022 to 2026. This is not a model-specific casting — LighTech makes one reservoir and lets the mounting decide the fit.
Before You Order
The OBT005 is supplied without a bracket. Mounting hardware is a separate line: OBT008 forward, OBT009 rearward, OBT003 as the general support. We can advise which of the three suits your GSX-S1000 — it takes one question.
In the Workshop
Installation on the GSX-S1000 needs no special service tool. Bleed and pressure-test the circuit on the GSX-S1000 afterwards; this is not a cosmetic part. The OBT005 leaves no trace on the GSX-S1000 if you take it off again.
What You Get
One reservoir per box, with its sealing gasket. Packaging carries the reference, so a second order is unambiguous.
Regulations and the Hydraulic Circuit
Replacing a reservoir touches the brake system of the GSX-S1000, not just its appearance. We list the OBT005 without an approval claim because LighTech issues none. Have a workshop bleed and pressure-test the GSX-S1000 circuit once the part is on, whatever your inspector says.
