DescriptionThe whole story▼
A mirror lens that still lets plenty of light through. The bronze Iriz lens on this Neon Yellow Velocity 5.5 transmits 68% of visible light, so you get the look and the contrast boost Leatt promises from its Iriz mirrors without the darkness of a full-sun lens. Combined with a neon yellow frame, it is a goggle that is easy to spot and comfortable on days that start grey and brighten up.
Key Features
- Bronze Iriz mirror at 68% VLT, a bright mirror for changeable or moderate light
- Per Leatt, the mirror reduces bright light and heightens contrast
- Bulletproof lens material, 2.7 mm thick and optically correct, with anti-scratch finish
- Two-pane construction for permanent anti-fog, 170° WideVision
- Self-draining open lower frame and OTG fit for prescription glasses
- Tear-Off pack in the box; the frame accepts Leatt's optional 48 mm Roll-Off
Bronze Iriz lens
At 68% VLT the bronze mirror sits on the brighter side of Leatt's Iriz range, which runs from 28 to 83%. In general terms that suits overcast-but-bright days, mixed tracks with tree cover and riders whose eyes don't like very dark lenses. The lens is 2.7 mm of bulletproof material with an anti-scratch coating, optically correct according to Leatt, and built as a double pane so fog stays away permanently. Its WideVision shape gives a 170° field of view.
Protection
Leatt tests the lens against impact to ANSI Z87.1-2015 and to the military ballistic standard MIL-DTL-43511D and lists it as bulletproof against roost and loose gravel. CE certification follows EN 1938:2010 under PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425.
Fit, foam and glasses
The tapered frame is made to fit even helmets with tighter eye ports. A 45 mm strap with anti-slip coating runs over outriggers. Inside, Leatt uses triple-layer face foam in dual density with an anti-sweat fleece, and the OTG design leaves room for prescription frames. The open lower frame drains on its own so dirt doesn't collect on the lens.
Tear-Offs and Roll-Off
The posts are mounted and a Tear-Off pack is included. Leatt's Iriz lenses work with Tear-Off as well as Roll-Off setups; the WideVision 48 mm Roll-Off is available separately.
What you should know
Although Iriz goggles are marketed for bright days, a 68% mirror is a fairly light lens. Under a blazing summer sun on sand you may find a darker mirror more comfortable. Leatt's Velocity lenses cover 22 to 83% VLT, so a second lens can extend the range. A neon frame also shows dirt quickly, and the Roll-Off kit is not included.
Colour
Neon Yellow is the high-visibility option: a fluorescent yellow frame with black details, a black strap with a neon yellow Leatt logo and white accents, and a bronze-gold mirror. Riders easily stand out in a pack and on camera, and the colour pairs neatly with black and fluo kit or yellow bikes.
