DescriptionThe whole story▼
Red frame, rose lens, 32% light transmission. This Velocity 5.5 is aimed at riders who mostly ride when the sun is out and like their goggle to match a red bike or red kit. The tinted lens cuts brightness on open motocross tracks and dusty summer trails, while the frame makes a clear statement from the start line.
Key Features
- Rose lens with 32% VLT that tones down bright daylight
- Leatt WideVision: 170° field of view, two panes, permanent anti-fog
- Lens rated bulletproof by Leatt, impact-tested to ANSI Z87.1-2015 and MIL-DTL-43511D
- Tapered frame for helmets with smaller eye openings
- Triple-layer face foam in dual density with anti-sweat fleece
- Tear-Off pack supplied, frame ready for the optional 48 mm Roll-Off
Made to fit your helmet
Not every helmet leaves much space around the eyes. Leatt answers this with a custom tapered shape that slims the Velocity 5.5 towards its edges. Outriggers set the angle of the 45 mm strap, and the coating on its inner face stops it sliding on the shell when the track gets rough. The design is over-the-glasses, so prescription frames fit underneath.
Ready for Tear-Offs and Roll-Off
Out of the box the goggle has posts installed and a Tear-Off pack included. Riders who prefer a Roll-Off for wet events can add Leatt's WideVision 48 mm system later, which is sold separately. The open lower frame helps too: it is self-draining, so mud and water have a way out.
Lens performance
A light transmission of 32% puts this rose lens in the sunny-day category in general terms: noticeably darker than clear, but not as dark as the deepest lenses in the range. Leatt makes it as a double pane with permanent anti-fog and gives it the 170° WideVision cut. According to Leatt the lens is bulletproof; it is tested to ANSI Z87.1-2015 and the military ballistic standard MIL-DTL-43511D, and the goggle is CE certified to EN 1938:2010 under PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425.
Comfort
The face foam is built from three layers in two densities. Its fleece backing is meant to handle sweat during long motos.
What you should know
In shade, forest sections or at dusk a 32% lens can feel dark. For mixed conditions consider carrying a clear spare lens; Leatt lists Velocity lenses from 22 to 83% VLT. The Roll-Off kit is optional and not in the box. A red frame will also show roost marks and dust more than a black one.
Colour
The frame is bright red with black details, and the strap pairs black with red stripes and a white Leatt logo. Together with the rose lens the whole goggle stays in one warm colour family. It suits red bikes and red gear and adds a strong accent to an otherwise plain black or white helmet.
