DescriptionThe whole story▼
Not every ride needs a backpack. The Leatt Tool Belt Moto 3L is a hip pack for motocross, enduro and trail days when you want tools and a few small essentials on board while your back stays free and cool.
At 360 g and with 3 litres of room, it carries what you need for a chain link, a loose bolt or a flat, and it sits low around the waist where the weight barely registers on the bike.
Storage and organisation
The main compartment closes with a zip, so nothing falls out over whoops or rocks. Inside, several organisers split the space so a tyre lever does not end up tangled with your phone cable.
A separate quick-access tool pocket is divided into compartments for the tools you use most. When you stop to adjust a lever or tighten an axle, you know where everything is. Two roomy stretch pockets on the sides take gloves, a buff, a snack or a small first-aid pouch.
Off-centre buckle
Most hip packs close right in front of your stomach, which is exactly where you fold when you lean over the bars. Leatt moved the waist buckle to one side. In the attack position there is no hard plastic pressing into your body, and the belt still holds securely.
Fit on the bike
Side compression straps adjust both the fit around your waist and the volume of the pack. With little on board, pull them tight and the belt stays compact. With a full load, they keep the contents pressed close to the body so nothing bounces during rough sections.
What a 3 L hip pack carries
Three litres sounds small, but it is a practical size for trail repairs. A typical load is a multitool, a set of hex keys, a spare chain link, zip ties, a tyre lever and a small roll of tape in the tool pocket, with phone, keys and a bar in the main compartment. Gloves or a buff go into the side pockets, where you can grab them without opening a zip.
Because the pack sits at the waist, it also pairs well with a separate hydration pack on longer days, keeping heavy tools off your shoulders and low on the body.
Material
The Tool Belt Moto is made from 100% nylon, a fabric that keeps the weight down while handling scuffs from branches, roost and being thrown in the van at the end of the day. It comes in plastic-free packaging.
What you should know
- With 3 litres it is a tool and essentials carrier. There is no bladder compartment, so plan to drink from a bottle or wear a separate hydration pack.
- The off-centre buckle sits on one side. If you wear a kidney belt or a body armour with a wide waist section, try the combination before your first long ride.
- Black nylon shows dried mud as a light film. A damp cloth after the ride is usually enough.
