DescriptionThe whole story▼
Washing the bike after a deep-mud ride usually means getting soaked yourself. The Leatt MudCoat is made for exactly that moment: a lightweight, extra-long coat in waterproof material that you pull on before the pressure washer starts, so the spray and dirt end up on the coat instead of on you.
It is not riding gear but a workshop and paddock tool, designed by Leatt specifically for bike cleaning.
Key Features
- Extra-long cut for good coverage against spray
- Soft, waterproof PU-coated polyester
- Waterproof front zipper
- Large ventilation areas on the sides and under the arms
- Loops on both sides for T-handle tools, plus pockets on both sides
- Clear viewing window to keep an eye on the bike
- One size fits all
Made for the wash bay
Leatt developed the MudCoat for washing bikes after the messiest rides. The long cut reaches well down the legs, so water bouncing off the frame and wheels lands on the coat. The material is soft enough to move in while you crouch and lean around the bike.
Tools at hand
Both sides carry loops sized for T-shaped tools such as T-handles, and both sides have pockets for small items. Brushes, a T-bar or a spare plug stay within reach while you work, instead of lying in the wet.
Ventilation
Cleaning is physical work, and a sealed coat would quickly get hot. Large mesh ventilation panels on the sides and under the arms let air through and reduce overheating during longer sessions.
Clear peek area
A transparent window lets you see what you are working on without exposing yourself to water and mud. Leatt uses PVC for this panel.
Materials
About 70% of the coat is polyurethane-coated polyester, which is the waterproof fabric. Mesh polyester for the vent panels makes up 20%, the PVC window 5%, and nylon and elastic for trims and seams the remaining 5%. Leatt ships the MudCoat in plastic-free packaging.
What you should know
The MudCoat is designed for bike washing, not for riding: it offers no protection, no CE rating and no insulation. Leatt specifies the coated fabric and the front zip as waterproof, while the mesh vent panels on the sides and underarms are open by design, so aim the hose away from them. It comes in one universal size that Leatt designs to accommodate a wide range of body sizes, so there is no size to choose and no option to go up or down.
Colour
The coat is black throughout, with a slightly translucent sheen to the coated fabric and Leatt logos in grey on the chest and back. For a garment that spends its life in muddy water, black is the practical choice: dirt and grease marks stay inconspicuous, and the coat still looks tidy hanging in the van after a hosing down.
