DescriptionThe whole story▼
Speed Black is the race-flag version of the Leatt Moto Socks: chequered blocks on the upper leg, a dark foot that stays presentable after a muddy day. Technically it is the same knee-high sock as its siblings, built around moisture-moving COOLMAX yarn and reinforced where an off-road boot does its damage.
Key Features
- Moisture wicked outward through COOLMAX yarn for quick drying
- Knee-high length for full lower-leg coverage in tall boots
- Extra material at heel, ankle and instep
- 3D-knitted structure with a super-soft top cuff
- Sizes S/M and L/XL
Inside the boot
Leatt knits the Moto Socks in three dimensions, so they follow the shape of foot and calf instead of lying flat. Inside a motocross or enduro boot that means fewer folds. The heel, the ankle and the instep are knitted thicker, which Leatt says adds durability and extra protection at the pressure points.
COOLMAX yarn
Sweat does not stay on the skin for long: the COOLMAX yarn picks it up and moves it towards the outside of the sock, where it dries off quickly. For riders who spend hours in closed boots, that is the main reason to choose a technical sock over a cotton one.
Under guards and braces
Because the knit reaches the knee, it sits between skin and knee guard or knee brace and keeps the straps off bare skin. The soft knitted top keeps the sock up during the ride.
Composition
Acrylic makes up 70% of the fibre, followed by polyester (16%), nylon (10%) and Lycra (4%) for stretch. Each pair comes in plastic-free packaging.
What you should know
The Moto Socks carry no CE rating and have no padding beyond the thicker knit zones, so they do not replace boots or knee protection. Only two sizes exist, S/M and L/XL; if you sit between them, check Leatt's size chart. Leatt does not position them as a warm winter sock.
Colour
The upper half of Speed Black is white with bold black chequered blocks, the number 04 and MOTO lettering, while the lower leg and the foot are solid black with a white Leatt triangle near the toe. The white cuff and chequers stand out above the boot top; the black foot hides boot scuffs and dirt where they collect most. It works with almost any jersey and pant colour.
