DescriptionThe whole story▼
Bright orange makes the Leatt Moto 5.5 FlexLock impossible to miss and an obvious match for orange bikes and race kit. What makes it worth wearing, though, is Leatt's adjustable FlexLock lower boot, which lets you choose the flex of the boot rather than accept a fixed one.
Leatt engineered this boot for a precise yet comfortable fit, wider feet included, and backs it with TPU protection, 3D-shaped impact foam at the ankles, forged aluminium buckles and a steel-shank reinforced DualZone sole.
Key Features
- Orange shell with black accents
- Fit designed for comfort, including wider feet
- FlexLock lower boot with adjustable flex
- Leatt quotes up to 37% lower lateral ankle force and up to 35% lower knee force versus market-leading boots
- 3D-shaped impact foam around the ankles
- Extended footpeg zone for arch and toe riding
- Certified to EN 13634:2017
Fit and comfort
Leatt designed the 5.5 FlexLock for a precise, comfortable fit, and wider feet are explicitly included. The 3D breathable mesh liner has an anti-slip reinforcement intended to eliminate heel lift, so the foot stays locked in place when you stand on the pegs.
Protection
The FlexLock lower boot lets you choose the flex you prefer. According to Leatt, the boot's technology reduces lateral ankle forces by up to 37% and knee forces by up to 35% compared with market-leading boots. 3D-shaped foam around the ankles adds impact protection, and TPU on the flat inner side protects where the boot rubs against the bike. The boot is CE certified to EN 13634:2017.
Sole
The DualZone sole uses two hardness zones for durability and control. An extended footpeg zone accommodates both arch and toe riding, and a steel shank reinforces the sole for strength and stability under load. The low-profile toe box makes shifting straightforward, while the heel-grip ankle design steadies you when riding on your toes.
Buckles and SlideLock
Forged aluminium buckles with an Over-Lock system and stainless-steel bases hold the boot closed. At the top, SlideLock is a one-way sliding closure that locks automatically and seals the upper end of the shaft.
What it is made of
TPU accounts for 46.59% of the boot, the largest single share. Synthetic leather (polyurethane and nylon) adds 15.02%, aluminium 13.87% and rubber 11.99%, with smaller amounts of POM, nylon with carbon fibre, TPR and steel.
What you should know
The orange version belongs to the earlier Moto 5.5 FlexLock generation, not the Evo. Sizes run from EU 42 to EU 47 (US 8 to US 12). The boot is not waterproof; the breathable mesh liner is aimed at airflow, not at keeping water out. Leatt specifies a weight of 4,550 g, and the force reductions are Leatt's own comparative figures.
Colour
Orange dominates the shell from the toe to the top of the shaft, with an orange sole edge. Black is used for the buckle straps, the upper rear panel and accents around the ankle and toe, and the buckles are metallic. On the heel, a black Leatt logo sits on the orange. Orange is one of the most visible colours on a track and shows dried mud less than white does, while still looking clearly coloured.
