DescriptionThe whole story▼
The FastFit version of the Leatt 3DF 5.0 Evo solves a small but daily annoyance: pulling a knee sleeve over your foot. Its hook-and-loop fasteners open the guard so you can put it on or take it off without removing your shoes, which helps in the pits, at the trailhead or when you just want the pads off between sessions.
Underneath that closure sits the same principle as the standard 3DF guards, soft 3DF AirFit foam certified to EN 1621-1 Level 1, here with added coverage reaching towards the shin according to Leatt.
Key Features
- FastFit hook-and-loop closure, no need to remove shoes
- EN 1621-1 Level 1 certified 3DF AirFit impact foam
- Added shin protection below the knee (manufacturer description)
- Thinner chassis fabric than earlier versions
- Deflexion outer layer for durability
- Perforated protection and perforated neoprene sleeve
- Anti-slip calf band and silicone-printed leg straps
- Leatt protection score of 13 points (manufacturer rating)
Closure and handling
FastFit means the guard does not have to be slid on like a tube. The hook-and-loop fasteners let you wrap it around the leg and close it in place, then fine-tune the fit with the adjustable leg straps. For riders who change between riding gear and casual shoes several times a day, that is the main reason to pick this model over the standard 3DF 5.0 Evo.
Protection and certification
The knee section is CE tested and certified to EN 1621-1 at Level 1. Leatt describes 3DF AirFit impact foam with added shin protection, so the soft padding extends further down than on a pure kneecap pad.
On Leatt's own scale the FastFit reaches 13 protection points. That number is a manufacturer rating, useful for comparing Leatt guards with each other but not part of the certification.
Materials
The outside is made with Deflexion, an abrasion-resistant layer that Leatt calls ultra-light and durable. The 4-way stretch material across the knee belongs to the CE-certified construction. Leatt notes an improved, thinner chassis fabric, which keeps the guard slim under riding pants.
Ventilation and comfort
All protective materials are perforated, and the neoprene sleeve is too. Combined with the pre-curved shape this is meant for long days: Leatt says the guard can be worn all day long, and the ventilated fabrics are the reason it does not turn into a heat pack.
Sizing
Unlike the single-sized standard 3DF 5.0 Evo, the FastFit comes in three combined sizes: S/M, L/XL and XXL. The adjustable straps cover the range within each size.
Certificates and manual
For the FastFit version Leatt publishes its own documents, separate from the standard 3DF 5.0 Evo: a manual, an EU type-examination certificate from RICOTEST and the matching declaration of conformity. The manual explains how to close the hook-and-loop sections and set the leg straps so the knee cup sits centred.
Riding use
Leatt lists the FastFit for motocross, enduro and trail. It ships in plastic-free packaging.
What you should know
This is a soft guard without a hard cap over the knee, certified at Level 1. If you want the higher Level 2 class, Leatt offers it in other models. Hook-and-loop fasteners collect grass and fluff over time, so clean them now and then for a reliable grip. The FastFit is a protector only and offers no ligament support like a knee brace.
Colour
Black suits the FastFit because the hook-and-loop areas and straps stay inconspicuous, and dirt on the Velcro edges is less visible than on a light colour. Under dark or bright pants alike, nothing shows through.
