DescriptionThe whole story▼
Leatt calls the X-Frame Hybrid its top-level cage-type knee brace. It combines the dual-hinge carbon composite chassis of the X-Frame with a Hybrid ReaFlex impact gel knee cup, so ligament support and kneecap impact protection come together in one brace.
Leatt designed it to help reduce forces on the knee and the risk of ACL, MCL and meniscus injuries. Leatt also highlights a separate sleeve and numbered straps, both aimed at a consistent, comfortable fit every time you put it on.

How the brace works
Leatt designed the frame to help reduce forces on the knee and so the risk of injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament, the medial collateral ligament and the meniscus. Adjustable hyperextension stops at 10°, 15°, 20° or 25° restrict how far the knee can straighten, intended by Leatt to help reduce ACL injuries.
The hybrid knee cup
Where the standard X-Frame leaves the kneecap to a separate guard, the Hybrid integrates a ReaFlex impact gel knee cup. The knee is CE tested and certified as impact protection to EN 1621-1 Level 1. For riders who want one product on the knee instead of a brace plus a pad, that is the deciding difference.
Chassis and hinges
The chassis is injected carbon composite. On the inside, a slim hinge keeps the profile low where your knee grips the bike, which Leatt says gives superior bike feel. On the outside, a metal-geared hinge provides precise movement and durability. Leatt's material data lists about 60% carbon fibre composite, 20% polyamide, 10% polypropylene, 5% AirFlex impact gel and 5% other components.
Fit and comfort
Numbered straps make it easier to fasten the brace the same way every time. Interchangeable hinge padding sizes let you tune the fit around your knee, and the separate sleeve allows freer movement, according to Leatt. A low-profile shin bone pad is designed to fit inside all boots.
Sizes
Five sizes from S to XXL are available. Leatt's documents refer to the X-Frame Hybrid as a pair. Packaging is plastic-free.
What you should know
This is a knee brace that needs careful set-up of straps, padding and hyperextension stops; take time with the manual before the first ride. Note that hyperextension stops here run from 10° to 25°, while the standard X-Frame uses 5° to 20°. No brace can prevent every injury, and it should be checked after a heavy crash. Leatt's material data names AirFlex gel, while its product page calls the knee cup ReaFlex; we follow the product page.
Colour
All in black, the X-Frame Hybrid looks compact despite its integrated knee cup. The dark cup and chassis blend into one unit under your pants, and the metal outer hinge is the only accent.
