DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Leatt Kidney Belt 3DF 3.5 supports and protects at the same time: its back section is made of flexible 3DF AirFit impact foam and is CE certified as lumbar impact protection to EN 1621-2 Level 1. Leatt itself calls the 3.5 unique for that reason.
It is built for long days in the saddle on motocross tracks, enduro loops and trails, with an extra-wide waistband for support and thermo-formed air channels to keep the lower back from overheating.
Key Features
- CE certified lumbar impact protection to EN 1621-2, Level 1
- Flexible 3DF AirFit impact foam over the lower back
- Dual-action elastic closure for secure lumbar support
- Extra-wide waistband that stays comfortable all ride long
- Thermo-formed 3D ventilation channels for airflow in hot conditions
- Three sizes: S/M, L/XL, XXL/3XL
Protection & certification
EN 1621-2 is the European standard for back protectors. Leatt has the lumbar area of the 3.5 tested to it, and the belt achieves Level 1. That makes it more than a support belt: the foam panel is a certified impact protector for the lower spine. It does not replace a full back protector covering the whole spine; the certification refers to the lumbar region.
Support & closure
Leatt fits the 3.5 with a dual-action elastic closure that delivers secure lumbar support, and with an extra-wide waistband for maximum support. Both are elastic, so the belt moves with you instead of working against you when you change position on the bike.
Ventilation
The 3DF AirFit foam is thermo-formed with 3D air channels. Leatt designed them to improve airflow in hot conditions, so the belt stays comfortable to wear all day even when the temperature climbs.
Material & sizes
According to Leatt, the belt is made of 60 % polyurethane (the 3DF AirFit foam), 25 % polyester breathable mesh, 10 % nylon for the elastic components and 5 % rubber for the closure and waist stretch. It weighs 450 g. Choose from S/M, L/XL and XXL/3XL; Leatt's manual for the kidney belts is available as a download from the manufacturer.
What you should know
The CE certification is Level 1, the base level of EN 1621-2, and it applies to the lumbar section only. Riders who want the full length of the spine covered need a back protector or a body protector with back plate in addition. Please read Leatt's manual for fitting instructions before first use.
Colour
All-black keeps the 3.5 unobtrusive under the jersey and means dirt and dust from the trail barely show between washes.
