DescriptionThe whole story▼
Bright orange on a black base makes the Leatt Chest Protector 2.5 Mini Orange/Black one of the easiest kids' protectors to spot on track. It is a light roost guard for young riders between 110 and 134 cm, with an HDPE hard shell certified to EN 14021 against stones and debris.
Parents will like the child-friendly buckles and adjustable waist straps; kids will like that it weighs only about 450 g and leaves them free to move.

- Roost and stone protection certified to EN 14021
- Lightweight HDPE shell over a padded liner
- Slim enough for over- or under-jersey use
- Generous ventilation for warm days
- Ergonomic buckles designed for children
- Recessed BraceOn areas for neck brace fitment
- Leatt score of 3 points, sized for 110–134 cm
Roost Protection, Certified
Leatt certifies the 2.5 Mini to EN 14021, the standard for off-road stone shields. It focuses on keeping roost and debris off a young rider's chest, which is one of the most common knocks in junior motocross. On Leatt's own scale, the Mini scores 3 points.
Fit for Small Bodies
The 3D ergonomic shape and adjustable waist straps let you set a snug fit for children from 110 to 134 cm tall. A padded base layer keeps the hard shell from rubbing, and the profile is slim enough that the protector can go over or under the jersey.
Leatt's data gives the material split as 60% HDPE, 30% EVA foam padding and 10% polyester straps and mesh.
Handling for Little Hands
The buckles are designed specifically for kids, so many children can close them with little help. That makes getting ready at the track quicker and less of a struggle.
Ventilation
Leatt describes the 2.5 Mini as generously ventilated with optimised airflow, which helps keep kids comfortable during warm practice sessions.
Neck Brace Ready
Recesses in the front and back allow a Leatt neck brace to fit perfectly, whether it is worn over or under the jersey.
Use and Next Steps
The orange 2.5 Mini is made for young motocross and off-road riders who are just starting out or ride regularly at club level. It concentrates on roost, the most frequent nuisance for kids riding behind others. Once your child grows past 134 cm, Leatt's junior models such as the 2.5 Hybrid Jr or the 3.5 Jr take over with certified impact protection.
The protector can be worn over or under the jersey, so it works with both loose motocross tops and tighter enduro shirts.
What you should know
This is a roost protector under EN 14021, not an EN 1621 impact protector, and it has no shoulder or back impact certification. It fits children between 110 and 134 cm; bigger kids should move to Leatt's junior range. The weight of about 450 g comes from Leatt's product data.
Colour
Orange/Black is the high-visibility choice in the 2.5 Mini range. The orange helps parents pick out their child on a busy track, while the black parts hide the worst of the dirt. Expect the orange areas to show mud more quickly than the Black/Red version.
