The Leatt Body Protector 4.5 Evo is where hard-shell protection reaches Level 2 on chest and back while staying cool. Leatt combines a hard shell with FlexMesh Pro, an articulated, vented structure with flex joints, so the armour bends with you in three dimensions instead of riding on your torso like a board.
Leatt states that the Evo is 11 % lighter and 50 % more ventilated than its predecessor. For motocross and enduro riders who want certified chest and back protection at the higher level without overheating in the second moto, that is the core argument.

Ventilation Built Into the Shell
FlexMesh Pro is the reason the 4.5 Evo breathes. Flex joints between the segments allow 3D flexing, so the protector follows you when you crouch into a corner or stretch over the bars.
Leatt quotes a 50 % improvement in ventilation and 11 % less weight compared with the previous model. Both figures are manufacturer data.
Protection and Approvals
Chest and back are CE-tested and certified as impact protection at Level 2, to EN 1621-3 and EN 1621-2. The shoulder and elbow protectors meet EN 1621-1 at Level 1. An extended back plate and flank panels provide additional rib and side protection.
The 4.5 Evo is ISR rated and certified by the French Motorcycle Federation (FFM). On Leatt's in-house protection score it reaches 22 points.
Two Parts, One System
The protector is paired with a separate compression suit that carries the elbow and shoulder protection. Leatt designed this set-up for maximum comfort and flexibility. A kidney belt with height adjustment positions the hard shell correctly on your torso.
Neck Brace Set-Up
Both the front and rear plates are removable. Together with the new, slimmer BraceOn™ system, that lets you fit a Leatt neck brace in the way that suits you, and riders without a brace keep the plates in place for full coverage.
Sizes and Materials
Leatt sizes the 4.5 Evo in five steps, S, M, L, XL and XXL, for heights between 160 and 196 cm. The listed weight is 1.92 kg. According to the composition supplied by Leatt, it is made of 45 % polypropylene, 20 % EVA, 20 % nylon, 10 % TPU and 5 % other materials. The protector comes in plastic-free packaging.
What you should know
The 4.5 Evo is a hard-shell system and weighs more than Leatt's soft-foam protectors; the manufacturer lists 1.92 kg. If you want even more coverage on the flanks, the 5.5 Evo adds adjustable hard flank panels.
Colour
In black, the 4.5 Evo combines a black shell and suit with red accents around the chest and a white buckle detail, as shown on Leatt's product images. It is a sporty look that still lets a team jersey take centre stage.
