Built from CNC-machined components and refined across some of the world's most demanding race series, the K-Tech DDS Pro shock absorber delivers the kind of precision chassis control that the Kawasaki ZX-6R has always been capable of — but rarely achieves on standard suspension. This is a race-ready unit engineered to exacting tolerances, proven in British Superbike competition and on the Isle of Man TT course.
Key Features
- 5-way adjustability allows a fully tailored setup for every circuit and riding style
- 32-click compression and 32-click rebound damping adjustment for fine, repeatable tuning
- 16-click ByPass Valve (BPV) system provides precise low-speed damping control for small-movement sensitivity
- Hydraulic spring preload adjustment — no tools required for trackside changes
- Length adjustment for accurate geometry correction and ride-height tuning
- CNC-machined precision components throughout, ensuring long-term dimensional stability and durability
- DDS technology with potentiometer mounting points for seamless telemetry integration
- Multiple spring rates available to suit individual weight and setup requirements
Race-Proven Construction
K-Tech designed the DDS Pro around the demands of professional racing. The 35 mm RCU body is machined from high-grade aluminium, and the 12 mm RCU shaft is finished to exacting tolerances to ensure consistent damping performance across a full race weekend. Every adjustment — from the compression and rebound circuits to the ByPass Valve — is indexed in distinct, repeatable clicks so settings can be logged, compared and restored with confidence. The potentiometer mounting points built into the DDS system allow direct connection to data-logging equipment, giving riders and engineers access to real-time shock position data without any additional fabrication.
Track Use and Setup
The ByPass Valve technology at the heart of the DDS Pro addresses one of the most common limitations of conventional shock absorbers: the conflict between low-speed compliance and high-speed control. The BPV circuit handles small, rapid inputs — road texture, kerb strikes, minor braking irregularities — independently of the main damping circuit, so the main compression and rebound settings can be optimised purely for larger chassis movements. The result is a shock that feels both compliant and planted, with none of the harshness that typically accompanies race-specification damping. Recommended baseline settings are 8 compression clicks, 8 rebound clicks, 8 BPV clicks and 10 mm preload, giving a well-balanced starting point from which to develop a circuit-specific setup.
Fitment and Compatibility
This unit is a direct fitment for the Kawasaki ZX-6R across all model years from 2009 to 2019. Upper and lower mounts are eye-type, each 30 mm wide with a 10 mm bolt diameter, matching the factory mounting points without modification. Installation requires specialist tools and knowledge; K-Tech recommend fitting by an authorised K-Tech Service Centre for optimum safety and performance.
