DescriptionThe whole story▼
Engineered from the ground up for serious competition use, the K-Tech DDS Closed SBK Cartridge Kit transforms the front-end character of the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 (2012–2023) into something genuinely track-ready. Every component in this kit reflects K-Tech's reputation for precision manufacturing — the kind of quality proven across British Superbike championships and the Isle of Man TT.
Key Features
- 30-way independently adjustable compression and rebound damping for granular, rider-specific setup
- Patented Direct Damping System (DDS) technology eliminates cavitation and maintains consistent performance under sustained high-load conditions
- 20 mm piston paired with 31 mm control valves delivers increased oil flow and rapid damping response
- 8 mm piston rod minimises system offset for more linear, predictable fork action
- 18 mm preload adjustment range allows precise spring rate fine-tuning without disassembly
- Asymmetric, independent damping circuits markedly improve chassis dynamics and reaction time
- Increased stroke compared to the OEM cartridge, enhancing compliance over mid-corner bumps and braking zones
Build Quality and Engineering Detail
The DDS Closed design operates on pressurised spring force, keeping the damping circuits primed and responsive regardless of fork angle or input speed. Unlike conventional cartridge systems, the asymmetric layout means compression and rebound circuits work entirely independently of one another — each circuit is optimised without compromise to the other. The result is a fork that tracks the road surface rather than fighting it, while still delivering the high-speed stability that superbike-class racing demands.
K-Tech's patented anti-cavitation geometry is central to what makes this cartridge stand apart. Cavitation — the formation of vapour bubbles in the damping fluid under rapid pressure changes — is the enemy of consistent fork behaviour. By designing the internal geometry to maintain positive fluid pressure at all times, K-Tech ensures the damper responds identically on lap one and lap thirty.
Track-Proven Pedigree
This cartridge kit has been developed and validated at the highest levels of domestic and international competition. Its credentials include campaigns in the British Superbike Championship and multiple Isle of Man TT seasons, environments where fork consistency across an entire race distance is non-negotiable. For the club racer or track-day enthusiast stepping up to properly sorted suspension, this represents a direct trickle-down from that programme.
Installation Note
For maximum safety and performance, installation by an authorised K-Tech Service Centre is strongly recommended. Correct fitting requires dedicated specialist tools and techniques specific to this cartridge design.
Important Eligibility Notice
This kit is not homologated for use in Superstock 1000 classes. The cartridge incorporates a +15 mm length increase over the standard unit, which alters fork travel beyond the permitted range for that category. Riders competing in open Superbike, Superport, or club-level classes are unaffected by this restriction.
Fitment and Compatibility
This cartridge kit is designed specifically to fit the original front fork of the Suzuki GSX-R 1000 across the following production years:
