Milled Before Anodising
The logo is cut during machining and the whole body is anodised afterwards, so the lettering takes the same surface treatment as everything around it. There is no printed layer to wear away under a hand that rests there constantly.
The Entry MV
For several years the 675 was the cheapest way into the marque, which meant a great many first-time Italian motorcycle owners. They tend to keep them, and they tend to spend on them, which is why the aftermarket for a small-volume model is as deep as it is.
Six Seventy-Five, Not Six Hundred
MV chose the displacement to sit above the 600 class without crossing thresholds that mattered in several markets. The result has more power than a 600 supersport engine and a broader spread, which suits a naked bike considerably better.
A Small Engine Wants Precision
With less torque to fall back on, the 675 depends on the rider maintaining momentum. A shorter throttle cam reduces the wrist movement required between corners, which on a bike ridden this way matters on every exit.
Mechanical Throughout
Cable throttle, original cables retained, nothing spliced. The conversion is undoable in an afternoon, which is the property that makes it acceptable on a bike its owner is fond of.
Against Cast Aluminium
MV's own housing is a casting with a moulded cover. Machining the replacement from billet gives a bore that is cut rather than formed, and that is what the wrist reads at small openings.
Below the Threshold
MV chose 675 cc to sit above the 600 class while staying under limits that mattered in several European markets. The commercial reasoning produced a motorcycle that is more entertaining than either a 600 or the 800 for a rider who enjoys revs.
