Strip the tail off an RS 457 for a track day and the dashboard notices. The tail light sits on a monitored circuit, and removing it leaves a fault the instrument panel will not let you forget. JP ES 004 answers the circuit so the light can go and the warning does not appear.

Why Not Just a Resistor
The traditional workaround is a load resistor that draws the same current as the bulb. It works, it gets hot, and it needs somewhere to live where it will not melt a seat unit. An electronic eliminator presents the signal the ECU expects without converting the difference into heat, which on a bike with a carbon race tail is worth more than the few euros saved.

None. A motorcycle without a functioning rear light is not road legal under any circumstances. This part is sold for closed-circuit and competition use only.
Where It Goes
The tail light connector on the RS 457 sits under the seat unit, alongside the plate light and indicator leads. Unplug the light, plug in the eliminator, and cable-tie it to the subframe. On a bike being converted to a race tail the whole rear loom often gets shortened at the same time — do the eliminator first and confirm the dash is clean before cutting anything.
What Else Comes Off With It
The tail light is rarely removed on its own. Number plate bracket, plate light and indicators usually go in the same session, and each has its own circuit. This eliminator covers the tail light. Check which of the others your dashboard actually monitors before assuming one part solves all of them.
