Forty-Four Motorcycles
One for each of Lewis Hamilton's racing number, in matte black with sparing gold detail, forged wheels and a titanium exhaust. It is the rarest F4 MV produced and among the most collectible motorcycles of the last two decades.
A Real Collaboration
Hamilton contributed to the specification and the finish rather than lending a signature to a graphics package, and the restraint of the result is generally attributed to that. MV's limited editions are not usually this quiet.
Every Change Weighed
On a forty-four-example motorcycle the first question about any component is whether the original can be refitted. This unit uses MV's own connector and leaves nothing behind, which is the only basis on which it belongs on a bike like this.
The Ones That Are Ridden
Not all LH44s live indoors. The ones being used meet the same problem as every F4 of the period: a moulded switch housing whose two clipped halves develop play and whose buttons lose their definition.
Universal Clamp Geometry
The plate accepts either master cylinder bolt arrangement. Given the specification of this motorcycle, an aftermarket radial cylinder is a plausible fitment, and the switch does not need to constrain that.
Three Finishes
Black, red and titanium. Against matte black bodywork with gold accents, black is the option that disappears entirely, which on a motorcycle this carefully composed is almost certainly the right decision.
Sealed Construction
Sealed switch elements inside a body milled from one block. Even a bike used sparingly meets weather and washing, and the absence of a moulded joint is what keeps both away from the contacts.
