The 1090 Adventure replaced the 1050 with more power and the same intent. The JP PD KT032 replaces its right-hand switch with a machined Ergal body.

A Hundred and Twenty-Five Horsepower
KTM enlarged the 1050's engine to 1050 cc proper and raised the output to 125 hp, which put the 1090 comfortably clear of the middleweight adventure class without reaching the 1290's territory. It is the version many riders consider the sweet spot of the range.
Between Two Bikes
The 1090 sits below the 1290 Super Adventure and above the 790 that followed it, in a position KTM has since abandoned. That makes it something of an orphan model and a genuinely good motorcycle that is now available cheaply.
Three Model Years
The fitment covers 2017 to 2019, after which KTM restructured the range around the 790 and the 1290. Parts specific to the 1090 were never made in enormous quantity, which makes correctly fitting components worth taking when they appear.
Controls Worked All Day
Mode changes, cruise control and the display navigation, operated repeatedly across long journeys rather than intensively in short sessions. That steady accumulation is what turns a crisp button into a vague one over several seasons.
Universal Clamp Pattern
Adventure bikes accumulate hardware on the handlebar: guards, risers, mounts. The plate accepts either master cylinder geometry, which leaves the cockpit build open rather than fixing it around the switch.
Sealed Elements
Contacts sealed inside a housing milled from one block. An 1090 is ridden in weather that keeps other motorcycles indoors, and the absence of a moulded joint is what keeps the controls accurate through it.
Black Anodised
One finish, converted into the surface. Against KTM's orange frame and black bodywork it stays out of the way, which on a crowded touring cockpit is the right decision.
