The XSR900 GP is a modern triple in 1980s Grand Prix clothes. The JP PS YA059 replaces its left-hand switch with a machined Ergal body.

A Faithful Costume
The half fairing, the clip-ons and the yellow and white paint quote Yamaha's 1980s Grand Prix machines closely enough that people who remember them react immediately. Underneath is the current XSR900: CP3 triple, six-axis IMU, cornering ABS.
Retro Where It Shows, Modern Where It Counts
Yamaha resisted the temptation to make the GP an appearance package. The fairing changes the aerodynamics, the bars change the riding position and the suspension was retuned to suit. It behaves differently from the standard XSR900, not just differently coloured.
The Cockpit Breaks the Illusion
Everything visible is chosen to suggest an earlier era except the switchgear, which is shared with the rest of the range. On a motorcycle where the effort elsewhere is this thorough, that component stands out.
Machined Reads Correctly
Controls on the machines the GP references were metal. An anodised aluminium body cut from solid does not pretend to be a period part, and it sits far better against a painted fairing and clip-ons than injection-moulded plastic does.
A Full Modern Control Set
Indicators, horn, beam and the navigation of a colour display with riding modes and intervention levels behind it. The 1980s reference stops at the bodywork; the electronics are entirely current.
Sealed Against Weather
Sealed elements inside a housing with no moulded seam. Modern classics in Europe accumulate real mileage rather than sitting indoors, and that is what determines how the controls feel after several winters.
Black Anodised
One finish, converted into the surface. Against the GP's white and yellow it stays out of the way, which on a motorcycle this visually busy is the right decision.
