What the Rider Actually Looks At
From the saddle of an F4 the visible components are the clocks, the mirrors, the top yoke and the switchgear. The Öhlins, the titanium rods and the forged wheels are all invisible from where the money was spent, which puts unusual weight on the cockpit.
A Simple Control Set by Modern Standards
Indicators, horn, beam and the instrument navigation, without the menu depth a current superbike carries. Fewer functions means larger buttons with genuine space around them, and the housing ages more gracefully as a result.
Fifteen Years of Hardening Plastic
The oldest RRs are now well over a decade old. Injection-moulded housings become brittle at the clip points long before anything visible happens, and the first symptom is a button that needs a second press rather than a component that fails.
Titanium Against Gold
The RR's fork tops are anodised gold and sit directly in the rider's eyeline. Titanium is the finish that acknowledges them without attempting a match, which is generally more successful than red on a motorcycle already carrying a great deal of colour.
A Motorcycle That Appreciates
Good F4 RRs have stopped losing value, which changes how owners approach every decision. Components that bolt on using the original connector and leave nothing behind are the only ones seriously considered.
Sealed Elements
The contacts inside are sealed units. On a bike stored carefully and ridden occasionally, the failure mode is not wear but the slow ingress that a moulded seam permits over years of temperature cycling in a garage.
Milled From Solid
One block of Ergal 7075, machined rather than moulded, with a clamp that tightens onto the clip-on rather than gripping it. There is no joint anywhere for a button to sit across.
