What the 2016 Revision Changed
A counter-rotating crankshaft taken from the F3, a new exhaust system, revised electronics and a reworked riding position. MV addressed most of the first-generation bike's rough edges without softening anything that made it worth owning in the first place.
A Dense Left Cluster
Indicators, horn, high beam and the navigation of an instrument panel carrying maps, traction levels and the quick shifter's settings. It is a considerable amount of function for a housing MV never enlarged to accommodate it.
Maps That Are Worth Changing
The Brutale's engine modes differ meaningfully rather than nominally, and riders use them. That means the controls behind them accumulate operations across a season instead of being selected once and then forgotten about entirely.
Rain Straight to the Bar
No screen and no fairing. Water reaches the switchgear at road speed and stays there, and the seam running through the middle of a two-piece clipped assembly is precisely where it eventually causes intermittent faults.
A Cockpit on Display
On a naked motorcycle the handlebar area is the largest thing in the rider's view and a substantial part of how the bike reads from outside. A component cut from solid changes that impression out of proportion to its size.
Three Anodised Finishes
Black, red and titanium, all converted into the surface rather than laid on top. Red appears on MV's own liveries often enough to read as a continuation rather than an addition to the cockpit.
Sealed and Milled
One block of Ergal 7075 with sealed switch elements. No clipped joint for a button to sit across and no moulded seam for water to find over a decade of ordinary European weather.
