DescriptionThe whole story▼
For the 2010 to 2016 Z1000, the JP PLS 074 replaces the left-hand switch with a body machined from Ergal 7075.
Key Features
- Kawasaki Z1000 (2010–2016)
- Full street control set
- Titanium, red or black anodising
- CNC-milled Ergal 7075
- Sealed switch elements
- Plug-and-play on the original connector
The Angular Years
The 2010 Z1000 introduced the design language Kawasaki later named Sugomi: the forward-leaning stance, the four short exhaust stubs and a headlight arrangement that nobody was neutral about. This fitment covers that shape before the 2017 restyle sharpened it further.
A Naked Bike With No Rider Aids
This generation has no traction control and no riding modes, which means the left cluster carries indicators, horn and beam and nothing else. Fewer functions, larger buttons, better separation. Riders coming from a modern machine notice the simplicity immediately.
Nothing Between the Controls and the Weather
No screen, no fairing. Rain reaches the switchgear at road speed and stays. Sealed elements inside a one-piece milled housing are what determine whether the assembly still feels accurate after a decade of ordinary European weather.
The Cockpit Is the Bike
On a naked motorcycle designed to be looked at, the handlebar area is the largest single element in the rider's view and a substantial one in anyone else's. A component milled from solid changes that impression more than its size suggests.
Three Finishes
Titanium, red and black. All anodised through the surface, so a knock dulls the finish rather than leaving a bright scar on an otherwise dark cockpit.
Seven Model Years
The span runs from the 2010 redesign to 2016. The later Z1000 takes a different part, and the two are similar enough in appearance that the registration year is the reliable check.
What Owners Change
Bar ends, levers, mirrors and this housing all occupy the same short stretch of handlebar. Doing them together saves dismantling the area twice, and on a bike whose appeal is largely visual most owners plan the cockpit as one job.
