An Italian Bike and an Italian Logger
I2M is based near Bologna and its dashboards turn up throughout the Italian paddock, which is where a great many F3s spend their weekends. The pairing is common enough that JetPrime lists a switch for it rather than expecting owners to adapt something.
The Button Map Lives Elsewhere
Nothing in this cluster decides what its controls do. That assignment sits in the dashboard's configuration file, which means two F3s with identical hardware can be arranged completely differently depending on how each rider prefers to work.
Replacing MV's Own Electronics
An F3 fitted with I2M has had its instrument panel removed along with the wiring behind it. That is a substantial decision on a motorcycle whose electronics were troublesome enough that many owners are wary of touching them at all.
Why Owners Do It Anyway
Because the chassis deserves the analysis. The F3 rewards precision that is invisible from the saddle, and lap and sector data is the only way to find out whether a fast-feeling lap actually was one.
Sport Rather Than Stripped
The control set keeps more than a competition cluster and less than the road assembly. It suits an F3 that still gets ridden to the circuit under its own power, which describes a good proportion of them.
The Order of Installation
Harness, then dashboard, then configuration, then this. Every stage depends on the one before it, and a switch ordered at the start of that sequence spends several months in a drawer.
Sealed and Milled
One piece of Ergal 7075 with sealed contacts inside. On a bike being washed hot after every session, the seam in a moulded assembly is where a season's worth of pressure washing eventually arrives.
