DescriptionThe whole story▼
Adjusting lever span usually means taking a hand off the bar and turning a small wheel by the pivot. A remote adjuster moves that control to somewhere you can reach while riding. The JP RMPLS fits radial master cylinders.
Key Features
- Remote lever span adjustment for radial master cylinders
- Adjustable without releasing the handlebar
- CNC-machined aluminium
- Cable-operated, no hydraulic modification
- Fits standard radial master cylinders
Why Adjust on the Move
Lever span is not a set-and-forget setting. Glove thickness changes it, arm pump changes what feels comfortable, and on a long day a rider's hand fatigues in ways that make a different position preferable. Being able to change it without stopping is one of those small conveniences that turns out to matter.
How It Works
A cable runs from a knob mounted within reach of the rider's hand to the adjuster mechanism on the master cylinder. Turning the knob does exactly what turning the wheel by the pivot would, but from a position you can reach without releasing the bar. Nothing hydraulic is touched.
Radial Rather Than Axial
This version is for radial master cylinders — the type where the piston moves parallel to the lever rather than at right angles to it. A separate part covers Brembo's arrangement. Check which is fitted before ordering.
Materials
Machined from aluminium throughout. The adjuster sits in the airflow and gets handled with gloves on, which is a reasonable argument for a component that is milled rather than moulded.
Where the Idea Came From
Remote span adjustment started in racing, where a rider's hand swells over a race distance and the lever that felt right on the grid feels close by the flag. Being able to wind it out without losing a position was worth the complication. The same reasoning applies on a long road ride in changing temperatures, which is how it reached production bikes.
What Changes and What Does Not
The adjuster alters where the lever sits at rest, not how much travel it has or how the brake feels. Nothing hydraulic is opened, no fluid is displaced and the bite point stays where it was. That is worth being clear about: this is an ergonomic adjustment rather than a modification to the braking system.
Radial and Axial Are Different Animals
A radial master cylinder moves its piston parallel to the lever rather than at right angles to it, which changes the packaging and therefore where the adjuster mechanism sits. This part is cut for the radial arrangement. Brembo's own geometry differs again and takes a separate reference.
Machined Because It Gets Handled
The knob is turned with a gloved hand, at speed, in whatever weather the ride provides. It sits in the airflow and collects everything the front wheel throws up. Aluminium milled from solid survives that in a way a moulded knob does not, and the knurling stays sharp enough to grip after a season.
