A Hundred and Six Horsepower
Unchanged from the rest of the range. The RX was never about the engine and Triumph never suggested otherwise.
Still a Road Bike
For all the supersport bodywork, the riding position and the gearing are the Street Triple's. It is comfortable in a way the Daytona never was.
Why Not Buy Them Apart
Ordered separately they arrive weeks apart, the tank comes off twice and a two-hour job becomes two evenings for no benefit at all.
Half a Job Is Worse Than None
Cover the head with the circuit live and the dashboard complains. Silence the circuit with the head open and a cracked reed still passes gas towards the filter.
Documented
A note in the service book stops the next person diagnosing an emissions fault that the motorcycle can no longer produce.
Everything Goes Back
Housing, hose, clips and connector all refit with nothing consumed, which means an emissions inspection or a sale can be answered with the standard arrangement in place.
Torque, Twice
The head fasteners have a specified figure and so do the tank bolts. Neither is high and both are easy to exceed, which is the commonest damage done during an otherwise simple job.
The Older the Bike, the Stronger the Case
Reeds age with heat cycles rather than mileage, so on any Triumph past its first decade the mechanical half is a component with a limited life. Replacing it is a repair as much as a deletion.
Nothing Internal
No part of this touches the inside of the engine, the cooling system or the fuel delivery. It is all external hardware.
