Thirteen Hundred and Forty Cubic Centimetres
Suzuki's long-distance missile, largely unchanged from 2008 to 2017. It was never the sharpest handling motorcycle and it was never trying to be.
A Cult Following
The Hayabusa attracts owners who keep them for decades and modify them extensively. Turbo builds, drag bikes and long-distance tourers all start here.
Secondary Air
Fresh oxygen into the exhaust ports on the overrun. It lowers emissions figures and it is the first thing removed on any Hayabusa being tuned.
Why Tuners Remove It
Injected air makes the lambda sensor report a mixture the engine never produced. On a bike that will see a dyno, the system has to go before anything else happens.
A Code Immediately
The ECU checks the solenoid at every start. Without an eliminator the warning appears at once and cannot be cleared.
The Head Ports
A separate cover blanks them. Doing only the electrical half means the warning goes away and the air does not.
Ten Model Years
The fitment covers 2008 to 2017, the whole of the second generation. Suzuki changed remarkably little across it.
Emissions Approval
The system is part of the motorcycle's registration. Removing it makes this a track modification wherever the rules apply.
Reversible
Original connector, nothing cut. On a bike likely to be kept for twenty years, an untouched loom is worth having.
Built for One Job
The second-generation Hayabusa was designed around sustained high-speed stability rather than lap times, and it is exceptionally good at it. Riders who buy one for a mountain road are usually disappointed; riders who buy one for a thousand-kilometre day almost never are.
