DescriptionThe whole story▼
The additional superbike switch for a 2020 R1 running a quick throttle and an I2M dashboard, in titanium.
Key Features
- Yamaha R1 (2020–2025)
- Requires an I2M dashboard
- For quick-action throttle installations
- Titanium anodised Ergal 7075
- Military-specification switch elements
- Racing loom required
Two Conversions in One Part
This unit is both the additional switch a quick-throttle installation requires and a superbike cluster wired for an aftermarket dashboard. It belongs on a bike where both changes have been made, which in practice means a properly prepared race machine.
The Order of Operations
Racing loom, dashboard, quick throttle, then this. Each step depends on the one before it, and ordering the switch early leaves a component waiting in a box while the rest of the installation catches up.
What the Quick Throttle Removes
The standard right-hand housing, because Yamaha builds the switch block into it. On a race bike the starter and kill switch are checked at scrutineering, so restoring them properly is not optional.
An Independent Clamp
The unit mounts to the bar rather than to the throttle tube, so the throttle can be changed again without disturbing the electrics and the switch sits where the rider's thumb falls when tucked in.
Military-Specification Contacts
Sealed elements rated above automotive standards. On a machine pressure washed hot after every session and vibrated at fourteen thousand revs in between, ingress rather than wear is what ends switchgear.
Titanium
One finish. On a cockpit rebuilt around a data system and a quick throttle, a single restrained tone keeps the assembly from looking assembled out of whatever was to hand.
The Final Road Generation
Euro 5+ ended European road sales after this run, which is why so many of these bikes are now being converted rather than kept registered.
Ordered Last
The racing harness and the dashboard have to be installed and configured before this switch has anything to communicate with. It is the smallest component of the installation and the final one to go on.
