Built for an A2 Licence, Ridden Like the Rest
The L is the power-restricted 890 Adventure that lets an A2 licence holder own the full-sized bike rather than a smaller one, and KTM built that restriction into the engine mapping rather than a bolt-on throttle stop. The rider experience otherwise matches the unrestricted bike closely enough that owners fit the same accessories.
The Switch the Conversion Takes Away
A quick-action throttle replaces the stock assembly and its attached switchblock in one piece, leaving horn, indicator and light controls without a mounting until this unit restores one directly on the new throttle body, bolted rather than zip-tied somewhere out of the way.
A Finish That Starts as a Solid Block
CNC machining from solid Ergal gives more consistent material around the switch cavities than a moulded or cast housing typically achieves, with bronze anodising applied afterwards as part of the metal surface rather than a coating over it, a difference that tells after repeated removal for servicing.
A Connector Already Built In
The loom plugs into KTM's original connector, so fitting this switch requires no cutting or re-pinning of the bike's factory wiring at any stage, which keeps the L's already A2-friendly simplicity intact rather than adding complexity a learner-focused model was never meant to carry.
Why Restriction Doesn't Mean Compromise
Because the L can be derestricted later without hardware changes, owners treat it as a full 890 Adventure from day one, including fitting the same throttle and switch upgrades an unrestricted rider would choose, and a bronze-anodised switch is one of the more visible signs of that intent.
