A System With a Long History
The original Shiver 750 of 2007 was the first mass-produced motorcycle with fully electronic throttle control, a decision the rest of the industry spent years copying. The 900 inherited that ride-by-wire foundation, which is part of why a mechanical quick-action throttle conversion is even possible on this platform.
The Switchblock a Throttle Swap Removes
Replacing the stock throttle assembly for the quick-action version takes its attached switchblock along, leaving indicator, horn and light functions without a mounting until this unit restores one on the replacement body, bolted directly rather than left hanging near the headstock.
Machined Rather Than Moulded
A solid Ergal housing cut on a CNC centre gives more consistent wall thickness around the switch cavities than an injection-moulded part typically achieves, with bronze anodising applied once the machining is finished, a sequence the Shiver's electronically controlled throttle does nothing to simplify or complicate.
A Connector That Needs No Rework
The wiring plugs into Aprilia's original connector, so fitting this switch does not require cutting into the Shiver's factory harness at any point, which keeps a bike already built around electronic throttle control no more complicated to service than it was from new.
Bronze on a Naked Middleweight
With little bodywork to hide behind, a bronze-anodised switch is clearly visible on the Shiver's minimal styling, standing out as a deliberate finish rather than disappearing into standard black plastic, on a middleweight bought more often for its character than for outright specification.
