DescriptionThe whole story▼
The air-cooled Monster 1100 is old enough now that many are second or third-hand, and a tired lever is one of the first things a new owner notices. Replacing it with a folding, bearing-mounted MPL restores a precise feel at the front and adds five span settings the original never had.
Key Features
- An optional remote adjuster can be retrofitted to change the span while riding
- CNC-machined from high-strength aluminium, anodised
- Folding lever, swings clear instead of breaking in a fall
- Double ball bearings instead of plain bushings, so the lever has no play
- Span adjustment: five positions, set by a precise and smooth adjuster
- Approved under ABE No. KBA 91507 (Gilles)
Types M5 and 02
Gilles lists the Monster 1100 of 2009 to 2015 under these codes for the MPBL-03.
Anodised surface
The finish is anodised rather than painted, which matters on a part that is touched on every ride.
Road Approval
The Ducati MONSTER 1100 (M5 / 02) appears in Gilles' fitment list for this number, which the manufacturer marks as approved under ABE No. KBA 91507. Keep the supplied certificate with the vehicle papers. The document itself is not published, so we make no statement about its conditions; we are happy to ask Gilles for you. Gilles notes that the TÜV entry for this number is currently being updated.
Scope of Delivery
In the box: one MPL brake lever, ready to fit. The clutch lever is ordered separately.
Fitting
Use the original fasteners and do not overtighten the pivot; the ball bearings need to turn freely. Set the span with the adjuster, check the function at a standstill, then confirm it again after the first few kilometres.
