DescriptionThe whole story▼
The standard rear mudguard of the Z900RS is long and hides much of the rear wheel. Gilles' KH-01 replaces it with a short, milled aluminium plate holder that mounts at the rear axle and replaces the right chain adjuster block, which leaves the rear of the bike looking open and classic. Plate light and reflector are E-approved and included; accessory indicators with M8 thread are needed.
Key Features
- For accessory indicators with M8 thread; the original indicators cannot be fitted
- Total weight 1,000 g, according to Gilles
- Milled from solid aluminium, anodised black/silver
- E-approved LED licence plate light included
- E-approved mini reflector with M8 mount included
- No registration required, according to Gilles
What changes
The plate angle can be adjusted within the permitted range, and the plate carrier suits EU, US and JP plates. The chain adjuster block of the KH-01 has a marking for setting the chain tension.
Listed years
Gilles names the Z900RS of 2018 to 2020 and the new model from 2026. The years in between are not in the list.
Road Approval
Gilles lists the KH-01 as not requiring registration on the Kawasaki Z900RS and states that the conversion complies with all regulations: the LED licence plate light and the mini reflector are E-approved. Because the original side reflectors are omitted, Gilles recommends fitting reflectors to the fork (not included) to meet the E4 requirements. The indicators, also not included, must be approved accessory indicators with M8 thread.
Scope of Delivery
The complete KH-01 plate holder kit with lighting, reflector, wiring and fasteners; indicators are not part of the kit.
Fitting
Fit the holder as the instructions describe and connect the LED plate light and the reflector with the supplied cables. The original indicators do not fit; use accessory indicators with M8 thread. Check the chain tension marking and all lights, and add fork reflectors, which Gilles recommends because the side reflectors are omitted.
