DescriptionThe whole story▼
The YZF-R6 is the supersport bike many riders learned to go fast on. Gilles lists the GP-Light 4 clip-on handlebars for the Yamaha R6 of 2008 to 2020, covering the RJ15 and the RJ27, with 600 g for the pair and replaceable tubes.
Key Features
- 6-degree drop, 334.85 mm overall (Gilles drawing)
- 50 mm clamps, 600 g for the pair
- Replaceable tubes with a predetermined breaking point
- Clamp with groove for a secure hold on the fork
- Fits Gilles BHP2/KHP2 lever guards and LG bar-end weights
- RJ15: TTG 101316 or TÜV 34TG0277; RJ27: racing use per Gilles
The newer Gilles clip-on on an R6
The GP-Light 4 is the successor of the GP-Light 2 and adds a tube with a predetermined breaking point and a grooved clamp. On an R6 used for track days, it keeps crash damage small and repairs quick.
Two generations, two answers
For the RJ15 of 2008 to 2016, the clip-ons can be used on the road with the right approval. For the RJ27 of 2017 to 2020 Gilles marks them as a racing part; the approval section explains the details.
Road Approval
For the RJ15 R6 of 2008 to 2016, both Gilles approvals apply and the marking on the clamps decides: KBA 101316 means the part type approval (no inspection, carry the approval); without it, TÜV parts certificate 34TG0277 requires an acceptance inspection straight after fitting and a later correction of the documents. For the RJ27 of 2017 to 2020, Gilles' price list marks the GP-Light 4 as for racing use only, although the documents list GPL4 clamps for that type; ask us or a testing organisation before using them on the road on an RJ27. Conditions in both documents: cables, Bowden cables and brake lines long enough and protected against kinking and chafing, master cylinder and reservoir in their working position, brake hoses with at least 80 mm bend radius and not twisted, free steering including lock and steering stop, and a check of the front brake.
Scope of Delivery
A left and a right GP-Light 4 clip-on with tubes, the fitting instructions and the approval document included with the set. Grips, bar-end weights and controls carry over from the bike.
