DescriptionThe whole story▼
The 650 V-Strom has modest brakes by modern standards, which makes lever feel more important rather than less. When there is no surplus of power to hide behind, everything depends on how accurately you can meter what is there.
Key Features
- Engineered break point inside the two-finger zone
- Phosphated pivot seat, free of play from new
- CNC-machined from solid aluminium, black anodised
- Milled Gilles face for a secure gloved grip
- Bolts to the original master cylinder without adapters
- Road legal in Germany under ABE No. KBA 91203
Build
Machined from solid aluminium, anodised black, with a phosphated pivot seat. On a bike of this age the original lever usually has play before anything happens, and that play is felt as a dead zone at exactly the wrong moment.
Metering Modest Brakes
With less outright power, braking becomes a matter of using all of what you have smoothly. That means the fingers need to be on the blade from the first millimetre rather than catching up to it, and reach is what decides whether they are.
Wet Roads
A bike used all year brakes in the wet regularly. Wet-weather braking is entirely about progression, and progression starts with a lever the hand can rest on without stretching.
Road Approval
Carries ABE No. KBA 91203 for German public roads. No entry and no separate inspection are required; carry the printed certificate from this page.
