DescriptionThe whole story▼
The M 1000 R is the M-badged version of BMW's S 1000 R naked bike, with more power and winglets. For the BMW M1000R of 2022 to 2026, the Gilles AXB-K46.B chain adjuster positions the rear axle with a special screw that moves it in either direction.
Key Features
- Precise adjustment of the chain tension
- Special screw moves the axle in both directions
- Model-specific shape
- Precise scale for accurate reading, evens out series tolerances
- Stays in the swingarm while the rear wheel is fitted
- No registration required, according to Gilles
SM99 and SN99
Gilles' fitment list names both generations of the M 1000 R so far: type SM99 from 2022 to 2024 and type SN99 from 2025 onwards. One adjuster covers both of them.
AXB or TCA
Gilles also makes the TCA adjuster for this model, with an angular gear and millimetre readings. The AXB is the simpler of the two: a screw, a scale and a block that stays in the swingarm when the wheel comes out.
Road Approval
Gilles states that this chain adjuster needs no registration on the BMW M1000R: no inspection, no entry in the vehicle documents. What it does need is correct fitting, with the axle nut tightened to the torque in the owner's manual.
Scope of Delivery
The Gilles AXB chain adjuster AXB-K46.B for the rear axle of this motorcycle. The original axle nut is reused.
Fitting
Set the chain slack to the value in the owner's manual and use the scale to bring both sides to the same reading, so the wheel runs straight. Tighten the axle nut to the specified torque and check the slack again after the first ride.
