DescriptionThe whole story▼
The MT-10 carries the crossplane R1 engine in a naked frame, and its handlebar sits high enough to catch wind at speed. This version of the clamp works the other way from most: fitted with the shims it puts the bar ten millimetres lower, five millimetres lower, or back at the standard height.
Key Features
- Height: 5 mm steps with shims; on the MT-10 that gives 10 mm lower, 5 mm lower or the original height
- Fore and aft: 3.6 mm steps
- For 28.6 mm tapered handlebars
- Fits top yokes with 10.5 mm holes
- CNC-machined from EN AW 7075-T6, upper clamp 6082-T6
- Road legal under ABE No. KBA 91440, no acceptance inspection
Type RN45
Gilles lists the MT-10 of 2016 to 2021 under RN45 with the adapter kit ABK-15.
Reach
Fore and aft the clamp moves in 3.6 millimetre notches, so the reduction in height can be combined with a shorter or longer reach.
Road Approval
For the Yamaha MT-10, ABE No. KBA 91440 applies. The document notes that with shims the height may be changed by up to 20 mm. No examiner and no entry in the papers: point 11 of the approval says the acceptance inspection is not required. If you later fit an aftermarket handlebar with its own Gutachten, its conditions apply and the installation has to be checked separately.
Scope of Delivery
In the box: the Gilles 2DGT risers made for this model, the model-specific adapter kit ABK-15 and the shims for the height adjustment. The ABE document downloads from this page.
Fitting
Take the original handlebar clamps off, fit the risers, and leave the bolts loose until the bar sits where you want it. Tighten to the specified torque, check the clearance to the tank at full lock and look over the fasteners again after the first ride.
